a big thanks to all that came

I want to thank all that came out to support the first Cranksgiving in Salem. The turnout was great and so was the mood. Everyone had a fantastic time and we had a pile of food to donate. We'll shoot to best the result for next year. Meanwhile, check out the photos.

Thanks again and sorry for the delay in posting it.

Nearly A Week

The first people to arrive and register will get something...a trifle, but free is free. Remember to bring a bag, backpack, basket, trailer or what-have-you to carry your purchases.

Venti's will open a bit early (around 10) and there should be coffee and refreshment for the congregants before the madness begins.

Should be post event tomfoolery as well, so plan to hang out after.

2 Weeks

2 Weeks until the event and prizes are amassing. Help spread the word by printing off and posting at your workplace a poster for Cranksgiving (simply click on the poster below and print).

Poke, smack and/or guilt your co-workers into participating in the event. They'll be better people for it.

DAY 1

Cranksgiving

When: Saturday November 13th at 11am.
Where: Venti's Cafe, Downtown Salem Oregon. Map.
Cost: Less than $20.

What is it? Cranksgiving is an Alleycat. Look to wiki for an explanation if you need one. If not, here's a simple recipe for the Cranksgiving pie:

-Show up at Venti's Cafe a little before 11am with your bicycle to receive instructions. You will be getting a list of 10 items to purchase. It doesn't matter where you purchase them, you only need to prove with receipts that you in fact purchased them from 10 different locations. Items will be less than $20 total, how much less depends on how thrifty you shop.

-Lists will be different from one another, so don't be thinking of a team assault. This is an individual event and meant to be fun and non-competitive. That said, prizes will be given to those who are able to collect their items and return the quickest. There will also be stuff randomly awarded.

-All items will go to the Marion-Polk Food Share just in time for Thanksgiving. This after all is the real point of the event.

Show up, ride your bike, buy some stuff and give it away...we all could use a bit more of this sort of dessert.
